Manang Pula Festival 2011
Last Tuesday, I went to Manapla to witness the town’s Manang Pula festival. It was my first time to witness it and I could say it was great. The festival was well organized thanks to Msgr. Gaston, Mayor Escalante and the local government. The streets were filled with large crowd from neighboring towns and of course dancers garbed in colorful and beautiful costumes.
Well, I was amazed by the festival as I didn’t expect it to be this good. I’ve seen most of the festivals here in Negros and I could say Manang Pula Festival is way ahead from the others. Of course, it’s not as grand as the Masskara festival or the Pintaflores festival but it has a potential to be one.
I just hope that the local government will bring all their forces to promote Manang Pula Festival so there will be more visitors next year as I haven’t seen any TV ads or radio promotions about the festival if ever they have. Well, good thing my family’s from Central Manapla so I have first hand information
and of course thanks to my friend Enrico and Bhoyet for giving me some head up on the festival.
Anyways, to Bhoyet and brgy. Teresa group don’t worry, we still have next year to reclaim the crown. Let’s work harder and show them that we deserv it as we won all of the special awards this year. I still can’t get how they computed the over-all scores though hehehe… But accept it in good spirit.
And to my own baranggay (need to insert this for my bro. sake) Brgy. Purisima good job guys! It was a good fight. We still have next year to grab that crown. Fighting!
