Sinigayan Festival at Sagay City
Yesterday, I went to Sagay City with my friend Eyya for the Sinigayan Festival 2011. We were so excited to finally witness the Sinigayan festival streetdance as it was a first for us. Actually, I was at Sinigayan Festival last year but I wasn’t able to see the streetdance competition, so I was really looking forward to it this year.
Well, after seeing it, I was kinda disappointed. I was expecting so much from the festival as it was promoted really well, like some festivals in Negros. Unfortunately, it was kinda low budget. The costumes and headdresses were not that creative and not that exciting. The drum beaters were in every corner but unfortunately they don’t play the same beat so it was kinda noisy and the dancers were also confused, especially near the assembly area. It was really funny when they don’t know what beat to follow. All-in-all the streetdance was a so so for me. I was not the only one who had this sentiment as I heard the same thing from my friends and the people watching the dance yesterday.
But in fairness to the City of Sagay and the Festival I so love their food! Squid Rings/Curls is love
We had a hearty lunch at Tali-ambong. hahaha.. I don’t even know what tali-ambong means. I just saw the name in front so I decided to call the place tali-ambong. But if you know the name of the place just message me. Ok, that’s all for now. Tah! Tah!
